We rely on the generous help of volunteers & Interns to help undertake our work and we greatly appreciate your time. We welcome people with all sorts of skills to offer, and enthusiasm is as valued as experience, since training is provided.
As a volunteer you would be involved in all aspects of our work including awareness raising through our visitor centre that is open and manned by volunteers 7 days a week from April until October. The centre relies entirely on donations and sales from its small shop to keep it open and running, as a volunteer you would help man the centre, carry out land based surveys from New Quay pier, carry out boat based research on board a local charter boat and assist with our on-going photo-identification work.
You can download our latest catalogue from our Photo-id research page.
We may also have fundraising and other awareness raising events throughout the season, and we often have school and University groups visiting which you may be asked to help out with.
Volunteering is a fantastic opportunity for you to make a positive contribution to marine wildlife conservation and to gain knowledge and experience of the species and habitats in Cardigan Bay. It can be a great chance to gain experience of field work, research methods and public awareness and education programmes. You can gain essential skills for a career in the environment or conservation such as developing your interpersonal, fundraising and data processing skills as well as meeting and socialising with people who share your interests.
Without the continued hard work and support from dedicated volunteers the work of the marine wildlife centre would not be possible.
If you have any specific skills or experience such as in website creation, fundraising, the media, DIY skills, accountacy, exhibition, interior or graphic design and would like to help with project development, please contact Sarah Perry (Project Manager):
