Environment Wales is a partnership of organisations in the voluntary sector, funded by the National Assembly for Wales. Our aim is to contribute to sustainable development by supporting and encouraging voluntary action to protect and improve the Welsh Environment.
Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales
One of 47 Wildlife Trusts across the UK. We are the fourth largest in area, covering from Cardiff and Caerphilly in the east to Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire in the west, and include three of the West Wales islands amongst our 90 or so nature reserves. Our priorities are to manage these reserves for wildlife and provide educational opportunities.

Dolphin Survey Boat Trips
See the local wildlife of Cardigan Bay with the experts! Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre and Dolphin Survey Boat Trips work closely together, carrying out research on the marine wildlife in Cardigan Bay and the Irish Sea. Dolphin Survey Boat Trips are the original dolphin research and eco-tourism trips running out of New Quay, West Wales.

Marine Environmental Monitoring
Subcontractor for the co-ordination and carcass retrieval of Welsh marine mammal and turtle strandings. By keeping accurate records of all strandings, an indication of what species occur around the UK can be built up and records of mortality can quickly highlight unusual numbers of strandings, flagging up potential problems.

UK Cetacean Strandings and Investigation Programme (CSIP)
CSIP has been running since 1990 and is funded by Defra and the Devolved Administrations. We coordinate the investigation of all whales, dolphins, porpoises, marine turtles and basking sharks that strand around the UK coastline.

Friends of Cardigan Bay
An active conservation group based in Aberystwyth on the shores of Cardigan Bay. Founded in 1989 our aims are to conserve and improve the quality of the environment of Cardigan Bay for all life, including human; increase public awareness of the effects of pollution and other threats to the Bay; join with local and national organisations in monitoring the environment of the Bay and campaigning for its proper protection.
Gower Marine Mammals Project
The Gower Marine Mammals Project aims to promote greater awareness and understanding of the marine mammals that are found in the seas around South Wales. We are currently conducting research into the activities and distribution of harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena) in the Bristol Channel.
