Dolphin Watch Picnic Saturday 24th June, 11am-1pm

Are you between 14 and 25 years old and interested in becoming involved in our marine conservation work?

Become a Citizen Scientist and help our Living Seas Team to monitor the Cardigan Bay Big 3 (bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoise and Atlantic grey seals) at our Dolphin Watch Picnic.

We’ll meet at the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre before heading to New Quay harbour wall.

You’ll discover all about the Cardigan Bay Big 3, learn how to identify each species and see what animals you can spot. Find out more about how we monitor the local marine mammal populations and how you can become a volunteer at CBMWC.

The event is free of charge. Places are limited so booking is essential. To book a place call 01545 560224 or email

Please bring suitable clothing and shoes as well as a mini picnic to snack on.

Each meeting costs just £2 per child. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Next Meeting – Crazy Crustaceans Sunday 2nd July 10am-12pm

First we will learn all about the different crustaceans we’re lucky enough to have in Cardigan Bay, from giant spider crabs to tiny barnacles! Learn the best techniques for spotting these crazy critters on our shores before heading out to find some for yourself. Bring some back to examine under our microscope and use our range of guides to identify them yourself before safely returning them to the shore.
