Day visits to our centre
We can help you to arrange field visits to the CBMWC with activities organised on the beach and in our dedicated education facility on the ground floor of Patent Slip Building.
Our staff/volunteers are experienced in running these activities which can be tailored to meet your requirements and linked to the National Curriculum or just your interests.
We offer safe access to the local shores and beaches and can provide all the equipment and materials that your groups will need.
All activities and sites are fully risk assessed, with indoor back up facilities available in case of inclement weather.
These sessions are a useful and enjoyable experience for pupils and teachers alike.
Educational outreach programme
We offer a programme of outreach work to local schools, tailored to meet the requirements of various key stages of the National Curriculum.
Working with a local volunteer who is a retired teacher with primary experience, we can offer:
- Speakers for groups of pupils and /or parents. Our experienced volunteer(s) will come to your school to give a presentation about the wildlife in Cardigan Bay and the work that goes on in the centre. These talks include a power point presentation and can be tailored to your requirements.
- Classroom activities. An experienced CBMWC volunteer can come into your classroom, bringing resources from the centre so that your class can find out about the wildlife on their doorstep in Cardigan Bay. We will liaise with your staff beforehand so that the activities are appropriate for your pupils. These sessions would be led by the class teacher with the CBMWC volunteer in a supportive role rather than leading activities, so a preliminary meeting is essential.
- Teacher training. Would your staff like to know more about the diversity of marine life in Cardigan Bay and why we need to protect it? We can provide a volunteer to come and talk to you about a variety of issues such as pollution, protection of the marine environment and biodiversity in Cardigan Bay.
NB: Please note that we do not have any fluent Welsh speaking volunteers. If you are a Welsh speaker and would like to volunteer, we would be delighted to hear from you.
We are not limited to these topics and activities, so if you would like to tailor activities to meet your particular requirements, please contact us (link) to discuss your needs.
Speakers for presentations
We can provide speakers for adult groups too.
